Straight Outta Compton
March 2nd Were people really calling for this movie to receive Oscar nominations. The screenplay shouldn't even have been nominated. Besides the music scenes the entire movie is flat and the acting is sub par.Maybe Ice Cube's son could be given a pass because he loves so much like his father it's hard not to make his character believable but the rest are just shit. Also, the movie seemed biased towards Dre and Ice Cube coming off as a revisioning of history. Given the fact that both their production companies were involved it seems those with the money and power write history again. Wouldn't recommend. 5.0

The Matrix
March 2nd Keeves is still one dull motherfucker but not even him could ruin this awesome film. On the other hand Hugo Weaving "Mr Smith" and Laurence Fishburne "Morpheus" are spectacular.Overall the movie is straight badassery topped with sci fi dystopia, gaudy direction and visual effects and philosophical questions. A compulsory view. 8.6. Rewatched on May 10... truly great concept and action.

The Human Condition I: No Greater Love
Feb 28th Ugh! Why am I caught in this vortex of long run times with not interesting enough plots. I saw the high listal rating and thought it worth it but not at all. Good cinematography and acting but the pacifist humanist storyline is not for me especially with the glaring contradiction of how can we humanize involuntary exploitation. I understand the whole duplicity of man and following your beliefs under extreme pressure but I just found myself wanting to tell the lead character "okay just cut the fucking shit!" 5.5

Pandora
Feb 25th Coming at the end of the Roaring Twenties crazily this is one of the most sensual movies I have ever seen. Louise Brookes is irresistible. The only problem is that the director could have cut this movie in half, it's run time was too much for the basic plot. 6.0

Howl
Feb 23th Rewatched. Most visually beautiful animated film. Slowed paced in parts but awe inspiring on account of the world created around the fully fleshed characters. A compulsory viewing. 7.9
